Completed national and international research projects

• KAREX-94 Russian-Norwegian joint expedition and analyses of physical oceanography, benthic fauna and contaminant transport in the Kara Sea. 1994 - c1997.
• Research Council of Norway funded joint Russian-Norwegian cooperation "Arctic benthic Fauna - a challenge for research". Resulted in 4 scientific articles, 4 monographs, 1 book contribution and 8 reports, in addition to numerous international presentations. 1997-2000.
• Research Council of Norway project for taxonomy and phylogenetic systematics of marine fanworms. 1998-2001.
•  Governor of Svalbard commissioned assignment 1998-2000: Marine environmental survey of human settlements in the Isfjorden complex. Multi-disciplinary studies of anthropogenic impact on glacial systems.
• Numerous commercial assignments with research implications.

Running national and international research projects

• Cruise and project leader for Russian-Norwegian expedition to the Barents Sea, August 2003 (NFR BASICC programme; ice-edge productivity and energy flow to benthic fauna)

• Convenor for ISO working group for marine methods (now transferred to CEN)
• Chair for CEN working group for 'Marine Ecological Methods'
• Member of steering group for EC Network of excellence
• MARBEF (www.marbef.org) as representative for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in a research network
• Member of various Norwegian committees for national biodiversity issues and biosystematics.
